Drama
Anyone? Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m.
Our goal is to bring together an
ensemble to perform in various theatrical projects, both in the
church and throughout the community.
The
goal of the Drama Team is to join in fun and fellowship while we
build a solid foundation on techniques of building a character,
stressing imagination, concentration, focus, and goals. The Team
will explore acting concepts through exercises, scene work and
improvisation. This is a good opportunity to learn fundamentals
that help actors develop their craft, in addition to helping build
confidence for a variety of presentational and social settings.
Some of the scenes used in rehearsal will be performed during
selected services at CUMC.
The
Drama Team is open for anyone with good reading and comprehension
skills who has an interest in performing arts. Church membership
is not required to participate. Theatrical experience is also not
necessary, as the team trains together, using techniques based
upon the Stanislavski method of acting, to develop skills for
acting, voice, movement, character building, and creation of
action. We use scene work, improvisation, and pantomime to develop
and rehearse our craft. Development is a process, so it is
important for team members to be able to attend rehearsals
regularly.
If
you are interested in joining the Drama Team, or would like more
information, please come to a rehearsal, or feel free to call
Steve Pickering at (847) 516-3409 or e-mail at askfirefly.com
if interested.
